Standards & Policies

The American Physical Therapy Association has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. Provider (#380).

Nevada Board of Physical Therapy Examiners requires licensees to obtain 1.5 continuing education units (15 hours) of education for each annual renewal period. Therefore, courses can only be awarded a max of 1.5 continuing education units, regardless of the length of the course. Nevada only allows 0.8 continuing education units for non-clinical courses to be used towards the renewal of a license.

Continuing Education Approval Process
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a national organization does not approve continuing education providers or courses. Continuing education requirements are regulated by the state boards of physical therapy. While most states require continuing education (over 40 jurisdictions), each state licensing board has its own policies and procedures related to continuing education or continuing competency of its licensees. Licensees should verify acceptance of continuing education units with their state licensing board by reviewing the relevant state practice act and/or administrative code.
