course provides you with the current research in balance and falls,
emphasizing the physiology of aging and its impact on function. It
also identifies predictors of falls in the aging population.

Presenter's Bio
|
Susan L Whitney, PT, PhD, NCS, FAPTA, is an associate
professor in the Departments of Physical Therapy and Otolaryngology at the
University of Pittsburgh. She received her professional physical therapy
education from Temple University and her PhD in motor development/motor
learning from the University of Pittsburgh. Sr. Whitney maintains an active
clinical practice with an emphasis on people with imbalance. Her research
focuses on the assessment and treatment of vestibular disorders and the
examination of the clinical tools used to assess balance dysfunction and
treatment outcome. Her current research, examining the use of virtual
reality techniques for people with balance disorders is both intriguing and
innovative.
