Course Description

The purpose of this session is to provide clinicians with scientifically supported strategies for the analysis and interpretation of running mechanics to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of running-related injuries. Clinically feasible techniques using low-cost technology are introduced. A systematic approach to the analysis and interpretation of the movement system during running is presented, as well as strategies on how to correct movement impairments. A variety of patient cases are included to promote understanding and synthesis of content.

Meet our Speaker

Bryan Heiderscheit, PT, PhD is a professor in the Departments of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is director of the Runners’ Clinic through the University of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Center; director of Badger Athletic Performance Research for the University of Wisconsin Athletics; and codirector of the University of Wisconsin Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory. His research is aimed at understanding and enhancing the clinical management of orthopedic conditions, with particular focus on running-related injuries. Heiderscheit is an editor for the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy and a member of the Executive Committee of the Sports Physical Therapy Section.
