Current State of Anatomy in DPT Programs

The Journal Club will be discussing the following article:

The current state of anatomy education in United States doctor of physical therapy programs

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the Educational Session, attendees will

1. Identify the current primary instructional methods used in US DPT anatomy programs.
2. Summarize the prevalence of donor-based dissection in the current DPT landscape despite the rise of digital and technology-based alternatives.
3. Compare the anatomical instructional hours and laboratory methods of their own institution with the national averages and trends identified in the paper. 
4. Differentiate between the pedagogical approaches of long standing CAPTE accredited programs and newer programs based on the survey data. 
5. Defend a specific instructional method using the evidence provided regarding student retention and faculty preferences.
6. Develop a strategic plan or "best practices" checklist for an anatomy curriculum that balances traditional donor-based learning with emerging computer-assisted technologies.

Course Instructions

1. Click on the Contents tab to watch live session or the course recording.
2. Click the Take Quiz button to complete the assessment. Learners will have 3 attempts to pass and must answer at least 70% of questions correctly.
