PowerPoint continues to be one of the most frequently used instructional tools in higher education. Yet, research indicates that allied health profession instructors often fail to follow learning science best practices when constructing PowerPoint slides for the classroom. This webinar will explore how to create effective PowerPoint presentations using an evidence-based approach for designing multimedia instruction. Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Learning will be presented and examples of how to incorporate these principles to redesign PowerPoint slides in physical therapy education will be provided.
Course/Session Learning Objectives:
- Explain the process in which students learn from a combination of visually and verbally presented material in multimedia instruction.
- Describe how each principle of multimedia learning enhances student learning.
- Construct PowerPoint slides that adhere to Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Learning.
