Incorporating evidence-based practice and functional outcome measures into an already fast-paced physical therapist assistant program can be difficult. In this 2-part session, presenters will challenge academic and clinical education faculty to think beyond what they may be teaching PTA students about EBP and functional outcome measures and create meaningful activities to equip PTAs to provide support in this area. Part 1 was presented by Kim Snyder, PTA, MEd, earlier in the series. In Part 2 APTA’s senior information resources specialist will guide  attendees thru APTA’s Evidence-Based Practice Resources (formerly PTNow). Attendees will learn about resources relevant to contemporary practice, including clinical practice guidelines, Cochrane systematic reviews, outcome measures, and synthesized content, plus gain searching tips they can share with students. With this new knowledge, educators will improve the PTA graduate's ability to partner with their supervisory physical therapist in reaching optimal patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

(1) Explain the scope of each of the databases presented.

(2) Select the best database or synthesized resource for class projects.

(3) Conduct basic Boolean or PICO searches implementing tools designed to produce on-target results.
