This course will provide examples of compliance requirements specific to outpatient practices and will address how to assess compliance priorities. The ramifications of running a practice naked, i.e., without a Compliance Program, will be discussed along with the benefits of being 'dressed to the nines' when regulators knock at your door.

Learning Objectives:

1. Articulate the key federal compliance regulations required of outpatient private practices.

2. Explain and discuss the ramifications of non-compliance with federal regulations.

3. Outline and implement the steps necessary to establish a Compliance Program.

For over twenty-five of her fifty-year career, Mary has honed her expertise in healthcare regulation with a concentration on Federal requirements and guidances, payer policy and coverage regulations, OSHA, ADA, HIPAA, and professional practice regulatory compliance. She was the first physical therapist to become certified in healthcare compliance by the Healthcare Compliance Association; she also holds a certification as a HIPAA Professional by the HIPAA Academy. She is the CEO/President of BCMS, Inc., which provides healthcare consultation, services, and Compliance Programs for outpatient therapy providers.

Mary has been highly recognized by her profession and community and has been honored by academic institutions, state agencies, professional, community, and civic associations as well as by her peers. She has served on or held committee positions and offices for the APTA and or its components for 80% of her active career.
