Lifestyle Medicine and Integrative Pain Management for Low Back Pain
Course Overview
This interactive presentation will provide clinician’s practical lifestyle medicine and integrative pain management strategies for acute and chronic low back pain. The presentation will provide evidence-based interventions such as lifestyle medicine that includes stress management, sleep hygiene, diet, physical activity, substance use, and psychological and social wellbeing. The webinar will also cover yoga, tai chi, qigong, Pilates, Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique, meditation, mindfulness-based stress reduction, as well as acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, and tui na.
Meet our Presenter
Ziya “Z” Altug, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, CSCS is a board certified physical therapist with 30 years of experience in treating musculoskeletal conditions. He currently treats patients privately in Los Angeles, works as an adjunct assistant professor, and conducts integrative pain management workshops.
Ziya graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy and obtained his Master of Science degree in sport and exercise studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from West Virginia University. He also completed a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. Ziya is a long-standing member of the American Physical Therapy Association, California Physical Therapy Association, and National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has attended numerous workshops including yoga, tai chi, qigong, Pilates, Feldenkrais Method and the Alexander Technique.
Ziya is the author of Integrative Healing: Developing Wellness in the Mind and Body (Plain Sight Publishing, 2018), 2012 Healthy Lifestyle Wall and Engagement Calendars (TF Publishing, 2011), and coauthor of The Anti-Aging Fitness Prescription (Hatherleigh Press, 2006), and Manual of Clinical Exercise Testing, Prescription and Rehabilitation (Appleton & Lange, 1993).
