Professionalism Module 1: Introduction to Professionalism
The Professionalism Series consists of 3 modules. Module 1: Introduction to Professionalism includes a course overview for the other modules in the series and introduces you to the concepts of professionalism and autonomous practice. It also discusses the APTA Core Values, the relationship between the 3 elements of the professionalism wheel and the 3 realms of ethics, and the attributes of a doctoring profession. This module helps fulfill the professionalism prerequisite requirement for completing APTA's Level 2 Credentialed Clinical Instructor course. You do not have to be enrolled in the Level 2 course to take this course and earn CEU credit.
NOTE: This is also a prerequisite course for PTA's pursuing the advanced proficiency pathway (APP).

To successfully complete this course, you must open and review all lessons and resources in the course. Once you have progressed through the course lessons and resources, you must take an assessment of learning. You are required to complete the assessment with at least 70% accuracy in order to claim CEU credit. You may retake the assessment as many times as you like.

After completing this module, you should be able to: Identify the six elements of Vision 2020. Define the attributes of a doctoring profession vs. attributes of a non-doctoring profession. Identify the definitions of professional, code of ethics, and autonomy. Identify examples of how an autonomous physical therapist would function in daily practice. Recognize the relationship between the three elements of the professionalism wheel and the three realms of ethics. Recognize the APTA Core Values.
