This course will discuss the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on cancer rehabilitation care, exploring impacts from various perspectives across the continuum of care. Panelists will discuss challenges faced, progress made, and lessons learned throughout the pandemic, and provide an opportunity for participants to engage in Q&A session following the lecture.
The COVID-19 pandemic has required swift, systemic change throughout our healthcare system. Cancer rehabilitation is no exception. Cancer rehabilitation providers have effectively responded to the public health emergency, continuing to provide these essential services across the continuum of care. This webinar will address the impact of the pandemic on cancer rehabilitation care and opportunities to create sustainable changes addressing the historically unmet rehabilitation needs of survivors. We will touch upon topics relating to patient care, multi-disciplinary collaboration and service delivery in the acute care and outpatient settings from various perspectives and geographies. The presenters will discuss lessons learned and future directions for cancer rehabilitation post-COVID-19.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the pre-pandemic state of cancer rehabilitation and the impact of the pandemic on cancer care in the US.
- Discuss the short- and long-term impacts of the Covid-19 public health emergency on cancer rehabilitation care.
- Discuss factors influencing delivery of cancer rehabilitation services in the acute care and outpatient settings.
- Propose best practices for cancer rehabilitation across settings during and post COVID-19.
- Identify lessons learned and opportunities for sustainable post-pandemic change
