The Orthopedic Elective Course for the Telehealth Certificate Series outlines different designs in telehealth programs across different healthcare settings for the orthopedic population. This course will provide historical context and outlines factors that are key in successful telehealth implementation. Additionally, this course imparts evaluation and treatment perspectives to assist in the management of orthopedic patients via Telehealth.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand key tenets in transitioning to Telehealth.
- Identify best practices for successful implementation of virtual care.
- Identify key areas that will impact and improve orthopedic patient outcomes in a telehealth environment.
- Describe the flow of a standard Telehealth orthopedic exam.
- Recognize patient & provider resistance to Telehealth PT.
- Identify ideal Telehealth Physical Therapist & ideal Telehealth patient.
- Recognize Physical Therapist modifications to consider.
- Understand translating in-person exam to virtual (practical examples).
- Discuss Client fulfillment: methods of delivery, group vs. individual, tips to maximize outcomes.
- Review Case Examples: 1) movement screening, 2) shoulder

Course Instructions
