This OncoReads self-study will provide the learner with a guide to the safety of symptom-based modification of physical therapy interventions in a pediatric cancer population.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this OncoRead course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe the EDGE task force systematic review process to evaluate and recommend clinical measures for pain in patients with cancer.
- Describe important criteria for evaluating and selecting clinical measures of pain for use in clinical practice.
- Utilize the EDGE task force recommendations to select measures of pain in an oncology practice setting.
- Describe the psychometric properties for recommended clinical measures of pain.

Dr. Shana Harrington
Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Harrington is a Clinical Associate Professor, Physical Therapy Program, Department of Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Dr. Harrington's primary research interests involve the areas of survivorship and patient reported outcome measures in cancer survivors. Additionally, her research career has focused on assessment of upper extremity impairments in women diagnosed with breast cancer as well as the overhead athlete. Dr. Harrington is well known internationally and has published and presented extensively in the fields of oncology physical therapy, orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation, pain and evidence-based practice.
