Through this course the reader will be able to understand the effect of community-based outpatient cancer-specific PT and OT on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and performance-based outcomes for adults with cancer.
Learning Objectives:
- The learner will be able to recognize the effect that lower level functioning has on survivor’s life.
- The learner will be able to identify what factors are predictive of lower level functioning following brain tumor treatment and residual effects that are long lasting.
- The learner will be able to discuss the implications of decreased motor and process skills affecting activities of daily living (ADLs) on childhood cancer survivors.

Catherine Demers
M.Sc, OT(C), ERG
Catherine is an occupational therapist and is currently pursuing PhD studies in Rehabilitation Sciences at McGill University. She earned her B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy (2009) from University of Montreal and her M.Sc. in Rehabilitation Sciences (2014) from McGill University. As an occupational therapist, she started her practice in adult mental health settings and eventually pivoted to pediatric rehabilitation. With children, she has worked in oncology, neonatalogy, school rehabilitation and psychiatry. Her current research interests lie in the areas of pediatric oncology rehabilitation and health promotion; to help children not only survive, but thrive after pediatric cancer.
