This course provides an overview of techniques for writing certification examination items, presented by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
This online course is step one in the overall Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) Item Writing course. The content presented is foundational and applies equally to all areas of specialization.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the three parts of a valid A-type item.
- Recall the characteristics of an acceptable item stem, lead-in, and item options.
- Recognize the characteristics of G-type items.
- Identify best practices for writing vignettes.
- Recall the importance of maintaining test confidentiality.
- Identify appropriate item submission guidelines.
- Recognize the rules for writing valid items.
- Identify examples of well-written and poorly written items.
Course Instructions
- Click on the Contents tab to view the course materials.
- Click the Take Quiz button to complete the assessment. Learners will have 3 attempts to pass and must answer at least 70% of questions correctly.
- Click Fill Out Survey under the Evaluation listing to provide valuable course feedback. Scroll down on all questions as there may be answer options that expand past the size of the window.
- Click the View/Print Your Certificate button under the Certificate listing. You can view/print your certificate at any time by visiting the APTA Learning Center and clicking the CEU Certificate/Transcript link on the left-hand side of the page.
