The purpose of this session is to provide clinicians with scientifically supported strategies for the analysis and interpretation of running mechanics to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of running-related injuries. Clinically feasible techniques using low-cost technology are introduced. A systematic approach to the analysis and interpretation of the movement system during running is presented, as well as strategies on how to correct movement impairments. A variety of patient cases are included to promote understanding and synthesis of content.

Learning Objectives:

1. Recognize the importance of technology-assisted assessment of running mechanics

2. List the benefits and limitations of assessing running mechanics using video

3. Identify the key running mechanics parameters that influence mechanical loading to the body

4. Describe techniques to modify running mechanics and correct movement impairments
