PRIVATE PRACTICE - AC24 - Grow Your Practice with a System: An Efficient Way to Relate Values to Outcome
How do we define a role? Owners and managers describe a job by the activities that make up the work. Employees don’t look at the job description after accepting the position. Without a clear definition of the role, the manager then focuses on checklists and the employee focuses on tasks. 72% of Millennials value career development, yet only 2% have an employer who encourages professional growth. Community, fulfillment, and impact are important values in deciding where to work, and who to work for. The system you will learn in this presentation provides a simple way to create the structure for employees to grow. As a result, they will grow the practice. This system relates values to outcomes by helping owners avoid micromanaging tasks. Owners who implement this system report decreased anxiety around hiring and delegating, increased trust within their team, and increased engagement from their employees.
You will learn to write a performance document. This document replaces the job description upon hiring, serves as an onboarding plan during orientation, and becomes the standard for employee reviews throughout their tenure. We are no longer relying on emotions, feelings, or a snapshot of the schedule. This provides an objective way to support, encourage, and hold the team accountable for our collectively agreed-upon outcomes. When the employee knows the focus is on the outcome, they are free to choose how to get there. The clinic takes on a culture of independence, sought-after autonomy, and innovation.

House of Physical Therapy
Stephanie Telibasa, PT, DPT, owner of House of Physical Therapy NYC, co-founder of The Billing House, and founder of The Planning PT.
With a background in Biology and Psychology, I have a strong appreciation for the mind-body dichotomy. Prior to treating my first patient as a physical therapist, I had already amassed 11 years in the field as an aide, front desk supervisor, and billing coordinator. Building on this experience, I advanced from new grad therapist to clinic director to partner to opening my own clinic within two years. During this time, I invested in marketing, business, and sales courses and gained a deep understanding of business organization, sales behavior, and team leadership.
At House of Physical Therapy we treat people who use exercise as stress relief. We are well known in the community with over 300 positive online reviews and participate in mentorship programs such as City Tutors helping students enter healthcare. Since 2019 I have been a hands off owner - hiring, managing, and growing the practice from my home in Florida. I have supported practice owners across 10 states in both insurance and cash based clinics to grow one to one patient care models using my system.
